SUPER FISHER manual lever hoist is designed for controlled lifting, pulling and load positioning where compact equipment and manual operation are required. The SF-VL series covers rated loads from 0.25 to 9 tons and combines a G80 load chain, forged hooks with reinforced safety latches, a mechanical braking system and a compact steel housing.

Unlike a conventional manual chain hoist operated by a hand chain, a lever hoist uses a ratcheting handle. This allows the operator to control the load from close range, making it practical for equipment installation, maintenance, construction and other applications where working space may be limited.

G80 Load Chain for Controlled Lifting

The SF-VL manual lever hoist uses a G80 load chain selected for lifting applications. The chain diameter and number of load chain falls vary according to the rated capacity of each model.

Lower-capacity models use a single load chain, while the 6-ton and 9-ton models use two and three load chains respectively to accommodate the higher rated load.

Load Chain Sizes by Capacity

The 0.25-ton model uses a 4 mm chain, while the 0.5-ton model uses a 5 mm chain.

Models from 0.75 to 1 ton use a 6 mm chain, the 1.5-ton model uses a 7.1 mm chain, and the 2-ton model uses an 8 mm chain.

The 3-ton, 6-ton and 9-ton versions use 10 mm load chains, with multiple chain falls introduced on the higher-capacity models.

Before every operation, the chain should be checked for distortion, excessive wear, cracks, corrosion or damaged links. A twisted or damaged load chain should not be used.

Forged Hooks with Reinforced Safety Latches

Both the upper suspension hook and lower load hook are forged for lifting applications and fitted with reinforced safety latches.

The latch helps keep compatible lifting connections seated in the hook during normal operation. The hook opening should always be checked before use, particularly after heavy service or suspected overloading.

Hook Inspection Points

Before operating the lever hoist, check that:

  • The hook is not visibly bent or twisted.

  • The hook throat has not opened beyond the permitted limit.

  • The safety latch closes correctly.

  • The hook can align naturally with the load.

  • There are no cracks, deep grooves or severe wear.

  • The load sits correctly in the bowl of the hook.

The hook tip and safety latch are not designed to carry the load. Loading should be centered in the hook bowl.

Compact Housing and Reinforced Lever

The SF-VL series uses a tough, shock-resistant housing to protect the internal lifting and braking components during normal industrial use.

Its compact body makes the lever hoist easier to position in confined areas where larger lifting equipment may be difficult to install.

Ergonomic Lever Design

The operating lever has an optimized shape and reinforced cross-section to provide better handling during repeated ratcheting.

The required operating effort varies according to capacity, ranging from 205 N on the 0.25-ton model to 720 N on the 9-ton model.

The lever should always be operated by hand. Extension pipes or improvised handle extensions should not be added to increase leverage because this can overload the hoist mechanism.

Protective Surface Treatment

The external housing uses a powder-coated finish, while unpainted components receive corrosion protection appropriate to their function.

These treatments help protect the hoist during storage, transport and general industrial operation. The equipment should still be kept clean and dry when not in use, particularly after exposure to moisture, dust or corrosive environments.

Mechanical Brake and Ratchet System

Reliable load control depends heavily on the condition of the brake and ratchet mechanism.

The SF-VL manual lever hoist uses low-wear sintered brake linings together with a ratchet disc and pawl designed with additional wear and corrosion protection.

This arrangement provides controlled mechanical engagement as the operator lifts or lowers the load.

Needle-Bearing Load Wheel

The load wheel is fitted with a needle bearing to support smoother movement of the load chain through the hoist mechanism.

Correct chain engagement is important. The load chain should pass smoothly through the load wheel without twisting, jumping or binding.

If operation becomes unusually difficult, noisy or inconsistent, stop using the hoist and inspect the chain, load wheel and internal mechanism rather than applying additional force.

Double-Safety Free Chaining

The free chaining function allows the unloaded chain to be adjusted quickly before lifting begins.

This can save time when positioning the lower hook at the required height, particularly during equipment installation or maintenance work.

The SF-VL series uses a double-safety free chaining device designed for controlled chain adjustment.

How Free Chaining Should Be Used

Free chaining is intended for positioning the chain when the hoist is not supporting a load.

Before lifting:

  1. Confirm that there is no load on the hoist.

  2. Use the free chaining function to position the lower hook.

  3. Connect the hook correctly to the load or lifting point.

  4. Re-engage the operating mechanism.

  5. Take up chain slack gradually.

  6. Confirm that the brake is engaged before applying the full load.

Never activate free chaining while the hoist is supporting a load.

The remaining standard models have a 1.5-meter lift.

Operator Effort

Higher-capacity models generally require more lever force.

For example, the rated operating effort increases from 205 N for the 0.25-ton unit to 720 N for the 9-ton model.

This should be considered when selecting equipment for repeated manual operation.

Suspension and Connection

The supporting structure, beam, trolley, anchor point, shackle or other connection used with the hoist must have an adequate rated capacity.

A strong hoist cannot compensate for an undersized support point.

Check the Hoist Body

The brake system should remain free from oil or grease contamination where this could interfere with braking performance.
